PROVIDED BY CLIMAX SPRINGS R-IV SCHOOL DISTRICT AS AN INFORMATIONAL SERVICE TO OUR PATRONS
The increase in cost is based on the Assessed Value of your property, not the Market or retail value. For every $100 of assessed value, your taxes will increase $0.23. A very common misconception is that assessed value is the same as retail or Market Value, they are not. Assessed value is based on the Market Value of the property. In Missouri, real property, residential property is assessed at 19 percent of its Market or retail value; agricultural/horticultural property is assessed at 12 percent of its productive or market or retail value. The assessed value of property is found on your yearly Real Estate and Personal property tax bills. There will be an attached file that provides examples of the effect of the increase as well as the source for the percentages used to find assessed value.

Greetings from the Climax Springs PTO (Parent Teacher Organization). Boy how time flies! We are already one month into the 2016-2017 school year. PTO has several events planned for the 2016-2017 school year. The Annual “PTO Teacher Bake We Bake” sale is quickly approaching. We have several teachers already signed up to provide baked goods for our sale. This bake sale will be held on Tuesday, September 20 during the parent teacher conferences. We will be set up in the main entrance of the school building. Also, on October 3rd we will kick off our elementary school Box Top Challenge. This is an event that really excites our elementary students. Students should bring their Box Tops to their classroom teacher between October 3rd and October 14th. The class with the most Box Tops counted will receive a prize, so gather those Box Tops. Previous classroom winners have been awarded with pizza parties, ice cream socials, extra recess time, or free time in the gym.
A Little Information About PTO
The PTO has several accomplishments of which we are very proud of. Our organization has been present and involved in the school carnival, we have provided dances for both the High School and Elementary students, we have purchased equipment for various classrooms, and have hosted several family friendly educational events. Possibly our largest accomplishment has been providing SEVERAL scholarships to our graduating seniors.
The Climax Springs PTO has been active in our school district for decades. We hope to continue to be an active part of the student, faculty, and parents school year. However, as of now, we are an incomplete organization. We are in need of new members and officers. Currently, we do not have the PTO President position filled. We hope this newsletter will encourage you to join our organization. It is our goal to keep this organization going and growing, but need your help and membership.
If this letter has sparked your interest and you would like to know more about PTO, please contact Jane Wolfe at 347-9922 extension #144. Our first meeting of the 2016-2017 school year will be held in the cafeteria on Monday, October 17th right after school. We encourage you to attend. Thank you for your time. Here’s to a great year!
