The Counseling Center has been in full swing since the first day of school. Seniors have already started applying to colleges, universities and showing an interest in what the military has to offer after graduation. Juniors and Seniors interested in participating in the A+ program met with Mrs. O’Dell to learn about requirements and expectations. Students will meet with the Wentworth College representative to enroll in Dual Credit classes. End of course and MAP results are in and will be mailed to parents.
SEPTEMBER NEWS includes: ACT: The first ACT test of the school year will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011. If you signed up to test on this date, Climax Springs is NOT a test site. The next registration deadline for ACT is September 16 for the test date of October 22. Climax Springs will be a test site at this time provided ten or more students register. Students may stop by the Counseling Center to verify if they are eligible for an ACT fee waiver. A student who qualifies for this waiver can use it two times during their junior or senior year of high school. You can register by mail with a packet from the Counseling Center or apply on line at www.actstudent.org. Test site numbers, school code and college codes are in the ACT packet or in the Counseling Center.
SENIOR MEETINGS: The first senior meeting will be held in the lower library during lunch from 11:29 to 11:59 on Wednesday September 7, 2011. Seniors will complete the senior survey, review ACT test dates, registration deadlines, college visits, applications for college/technical schools, the military, and work force. You will also discuss scholarships applications, your eligibility, deadlines, and essay information.
RECRUITERS: The Navy recruiter will be on campus Thursday, September 8 during high school lunch period. The Air Force and Marines are making plans to attend lunch periods as well. Students can also request an individual meeting with the recruiters, see Mrs. O’Dell to schedule a meeting with a recruiter.
